Romney Leaves The Race

Mitt Romney is a class act, and he left the race in a very dignified and upbeat manner. From his CPAC addresss:

"I disagree with Senator McCain on a number of issues, as you know. But I agree with him on doing whatever it takes to be successful in Iraq, on finding and executing Osama bin Laden, and on eliminating Al Qaeda and terror. If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.

"This is not an easy decision for me. I hate to lose. My family, my friends and our supporters – many of you right here in this room – have given a great deal to get me where I have a shot at becoming President. If this were only about me, I would go on. But I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America, I feel I must now stand aside, for our party and for our country."
It looks like it will be a McCain nomination on the Republican side, and like I said on 30 January 2008, McCain has lost my vote. I don't trust him, and I don't believe that he will be exceptionally different from Clinton or Obama except on the war and maybe judges. I'll vote for conservative members of congress, but McCain will need to "reach across the aisle" and "pull in the independents" to win this election. Best of luck to him, but he won't get my vote.

Time to embrace the suck.

I'm going to enjoy every single second of watching your party colapse while the American people elect the democrats because their fed up with your right wing policies and illegal war!

Nice to see you again, B-cubed. A couple of points:

1. I'm not a Republican. I'm a conservative.

2. I'm opposed to John McCain because I don't trust him, and because he has repeatedly worked in opposition to my positions.

3. If the war is illegal, why haven't the liberal scholars or politicians been able to put together a legitimate legal argument for such; as opposed to just repeating the left-wing talking point.

4. For an individual who appears to be a follower of the "tolerant Left," you really don't come across as all that tolerant.

Good to have you back, though, B-cubed. If you're willing to debate in good faith, it will make for an interesting election year.
