If President Bush vetoes an Iraq war spending bill as promised, Congress quickly will provide the money without the withdrawal timeline the White House objects to because no lawmaker "wants to play chicken with our troops," Sen. Barack Obama said Sunday. If no lawmaker wanted to play chicken with our troops, then why did Congress draft a bill to fund our troops along with withdrawal requirements and pork that they knew the President would veto? I am no fan of B. Hussein Obama, and this just sounds like 2008 campaign posturing to me.
That said, I do hope that the reporting on this one is accurate, and that he pushes Congress to quickly fund the troops and their mission without strings attached. It would be even better if they could also do it without the pork.
