An Individual Right

The Supreme Court found in favor of Heller in District of Columbia et al. v. Heller. From the slip opinion (pdf found here):

The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.

It was a 5-4 decision. Alito, Kennedy, Roberts, Scalia, and Thomas joined the majority opinion; Breyer, Ginsburg, Souter, and Stevens dissented.
