Kick Iran In The Teeth

Iran needs to immediately return all of the British sailors and marines it illegally took captive, and then the Iranians should sit down with British diplomats and work out terms for making reparations for the transgression. Anything short of that should result in the British military executing a prompt attack upon the refineries at Abadan, Isfahan, Tabriz, and Tehran.

That won't be done, but it should be.

And just for fun, I'd love to see some flares launched over some of the major mosques throughout Iran during Friday prayers. Not to do any damage, mind you, but rather to give the Iranians a little show of just how vulnerable they really are.

It's time to strike some terror in their hearts for a change.

If it wasn't for you, B3, I'd have no readers at all. To contest your first statement (and apparently your entire argument), however, I can say that this post is not xenophobic.

Xenophobia would be the unreasonable, abnormal, or irrational fear of foreigners or strangers, or of that which is foreign or strange. I fail to see how my wanting to see an aggressive response to the actions of military forces acting under the flag and authority of the Iranian government, who detained uniformed members of the British Royal Navy under threat of force, would be an unreasonable, abnormal, or irrational fear of foreigners.

Now, if you would have gone with rancorous, vindictive, or impetuous, then you might have had a bit more of an argument to work with. The fact that I would like to see a forceful response to Iran's act of aggression against one of our allies, though, has nothing to do with any fear of foreigners, be they of the "brown people" variety or otherwise (and I don't know that most Persians, or Hmong for that matter, would consider themselves "brown people").

My suggestion for the use of force in response to this aggression is made because I truly believe that it would grab the attention of the people and the governments of the region, and that it would likely avoid a further escalation of hostilities if it was perceived that the West would respond quickly and severely to any acts of antagonism.

xenophobia or rancor - it doesnt matter. You're only want to fight instead of talk. Try getting along for a change.

B3, you aren't making an argument. I am glad that you show up here, because that shows that at least one person is looking at my occasional ramblings, but it would be really nice if you could make a coherent case for your position.

Maybe I need to use the same debating tactics that you use, B3, in order to debate with you more successfully. Here it goes.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you B3: all emotion, and no substance. The epitome of the liberal position.
